Suara.com – Based on Presidential Decree number 115-TK of 2023, dated 6 November 2023, the government has established six new national hero profiles.
The list of heroes is Ida Dewi Agung Jambe, M. Tabrani, Bataha Santiago, KH Abdull Chalim, Ratu Kalinyamat, and KH Ahmad Hanafiah. As a form of “inauguration”, President Jokowi has given symbolic titles to each heir.
Get to know the profiles of 6 new national heroes
As a form of appreciation for the heroes’ struggles, let’s get to know these six new figures!
1. Ida Dewi Agung Jambe
Ida Dewi Agung Jambe was the king of the Klungkung Kingdom who ruled from 1686-1722. He was known as a brave and persistent figure in fighting Dutch colonialism in Bali.
He led the Balinese people’s resistance known as Puputan Klungkung, which was a mass suicide battle carried out by the king and his people when Dutch troops invaded the Klungkung palace in 1908.
In this battle, Ida Dewi Agung Jambe died along with his wife, children and followers in the battle. From here, his figure is considered a symbol of the struggle and patriotism of the Balinese people.
2. M. Tabrani
Not only a hero, during his lifetime M. Tabrani was also known as a journalist and figure in the Jong Java movement from East Java.
Looking at the website of the Language Development and Development Agency of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, M. Tabrani is also known as the initiator of the Indonesian unified language.
M. Tabrani died on January 12 1984 and was buried at the Tanah Kusir Makan TPU. This is also a memory site to commemorate M. Tabrani’s work which gave birth to the language of unity, Indonesian.
3. They return to Santiago
The next hero came from the Manganitu Kingdom, Bataha Santiago led the kingdom during the period 1670-1675.
At that time, Bataha bravely rejected the friendship agreement proposed by the Dutch Governor, Robertus Padtbrugge. He did this because he did not want to submit to Dutch rule.
However, this decision had the consequence that his life was beheaded in 1675 at Tanjung Tahuna.
He also built good relations with the Dutch, who later became allies of the Minahasa people against Spain.
4. KH Ahmad Hanafiah
KH Ahmad Hanafiah was an Indonesian cleric, educator and freedom fighter who was born in Lampung in 1894. He was the founder and leader of the Al-Kautsar Islamic Boarding School, one of the leading Islamic boarding schools in Lampung.
The awarding of the hero’s badge to KH Ahmad Hanafiah was based on his role in the battle in Kemarung. At that time, he fought Dutch troops together with Laskar Hezbollah.
5. Queen Kalinyamat
The heroine this time comes from the Kingdom of Jepara. Queen Kalinyamat was the queen of the Jepara Kingdom who ruled from 1549-1579. She was the first daughter of the third sultan of the Demak Sultanate.
Ratu Kalinyamat’s leadership at that time succeeded in restoring the economy in her region which had receded due to the struggle for power in Demak Binatara.
Queen Kalinyamat also succeeded in forming a military army which was sent to various regions in the East, specifically Haitu Maluku and the Sultanate of Aceh Darussalam to fight the Portuguese.
6. KH Abdul Chalim
KH Abdul Chalim is the founder of the Nahdlatul Ulama Teachers Association (Pergunu). In NU’s history, Kiai Chalim was a mainstay communicator between religious scholars throughout Java.
While at NU, he was responsible for the first management of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board as deputy chief of staff.
In addition, KH Abdul Chalim also participated in the war on November 10, 1945 in Surabaya.
