Suara.com – The name Kaesang Pangarep has recently become a topic of conversation due to the appearance of a silhouette similar to him in an Instagram post by the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) some time ago.
In the upload, a narrative can be heard whose voice is similar to President Joko Widodo’s youngest son, aka Jokowi.
“My name is Mawar, not my real name. Now I have decided to enter politics,” said the voice in the video.
Responding to this, political observer from The Indonesian Institute (TII) Arfianto Purbolaksono said that the appearance of this upload is certainly a new chapter in youth politics, especially since Kaesang has good potential among young people.

Kaesang’s popularity
According to Arfianto, in terms of popularity, Kaesang Pangarep has continued to rise in recent times.
“Even though he is the president’s son, his popularity has also increased with his own activities, for example business activities or activities managing the Persis Solo club and also for example, he has quite a lot of podcast viewers,” he said when contacted by Suara.com.
Furthermore, he stated that the party who would suffer a loss if Kaesang chose to join PSI, namely the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). This loss was due to Kaesang’s popularity among good young people.
“Well, of course the PDI Perjuangan will suffer the loss. Meanwhile, PSI will benefit from Kaesang’s excellent popularity among young people. Of course (Kaesang’s joining) will be an added value for PSI in the future,” he said.

In this way, according to him, PSI will gain an abundance of popularity among young people. However, he also said that this still had to be proven during the election.
“Will the presence of Kaesang increase PSI’s vote share? But in terms of popularity, with PSI’s current position, it will increase its popularity. And that will be an advantage for PSI,” he said.
Previously it was reported that PSI Secretary General Isyana Bagoes Oka asked for prayers so that President Jokowi’s youngest son would join PSI.
“I can’t talk too far yet. Please pray,” said Isyana to Suara.com, Wednesday (20/9/2023).
Meanwhile, PSI Deputy Board of Trustees Grace Natalie did not seem to know whether the video was Kaesang or not. However, he did not deny that PSI would be happy if the news was true.
“Is that true, Mas Kaesang? Well, if yes, I’d be very happy,” said Grace.
“There must always be hope. If not, life is really bleak,” Grace added.
A figure similar to Kaesang
However, Grace did not confirm that the video with a voice and figure similar to Kaesang was uploaded on Instagram @psi_id.
“Similar doesn’t necessarily mean the same… well, let’s just pray,” said Grace.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the PDIP DPP for Ideology and Cadre Generation, Djarot Saiful Hidayat asked Kaesang not to rush into the decision to join PSI.
“My suggestion is to join the political party organization ‘ojo kesusu’, ‘ojo grusa-grusu’,” he said at the PDIP DPP Office in Newsdelivers.com, Thursday (21/9/2023).
Furthermore, he even asked Kaesang to study the AD/ART of the party bearing the rose symbol.
“It is best, before entering and becoming fully active in Mas Kaesang’s political party organization, to first study and understand the AD/ART, structure and governance of the party organization,” he said.
Even so, PDIP does not pressure or force anyone to make decisions.
“What is clear is that we cannot force and pressure someone in making and determining decisions,” he said.
